How to find your lifestyle? 5 Steps to create the ideal life you want.

Once in a while everyone has thoughts of changing their life or redesigning their current lifestyle to be happier.
Why do we have these thoughts? Where do they come from?

We believe that these thoughts come to our mind when we compare ourselves to others or when we do something we don’t like (job, tasks, commitments). Or perhaps living in the suburb area and wishing to live closer to the city instead or vice versa.

Since we were young we’ve been asked the same question all the time: “Who do you want to be when you will grow up?” The majority of boys would probably answer – a firefighter, a police officer, doctor. At the age of 15-20, you probably don’t have any idea what you like to do, and yet this is the time where you decide what you want to study based on what you see in your community or the internet.

Right now, If you would ask the same question to any student or anyone who is already in their late 20’s who already graduated, the majority will still don’t know what they want from their life. Perhaps you are in your late 30’s and still trying to find some sort of purpose in life? Well know this, you are not alone.

We gathered the top 5 tips to help you find your lifestyle and how to potentially change your life.

1. Evaluate your time & essentials

Did you know? You and the people you are comparing yourself to, all have something in common. You both have 24h in a day. All the people in the world from the very richest to the poorest have 24 hours in a day. The important part is – how to use it.
Determine what are the essential tasks that you do every day and see how much time they consume. These tasks could be a job, university lecturers, groceries, cleaning, etc. Once you will separate these boring yet productive necessities, you will know how much time you have for the thing you want to do.

Now here is the brutal question for you. How do you honestly use this time? Do you claim you want to go to the gym and yet reschedule it for tomorrow? Do you visualise starting your own business and yet not doing the next move forward to make it one step closer to reality? Or perhaps it’s something simple like spending more time with your family, but you caught yourself doing even more work instead? Sometimes your biggest distraction of the day is social media, or even worse – pointless videos. Find your distraction and eliminate it, learn to say no to yourself. That would be a big small step toward becoming a better you.

Sometimes it’s hard to find “what lifestyle I want”. However, there are ways to find it out by answering honestly to these questions yourself:

a) What did you love doing as a child?
b) What would you do if you won’t need to earn any more money?
c) What makes you angry?

Write your ideas down and you will discover yourself and what you love. Also remember this formula of purpose: “What you love and what you are good at + what others need = your purpose.” Now return to the first point and plan your next steps to make a change, because you already found the time in your routine when to do it.

3. Recognise the Steps you need to make a change

Ask yourself what are the next steps you need to take to be closer to the life you want? Perhaps you need more education to make the next step? Maybe you need a qualification to progress in your job? Perhaps you need to make a connection to expand what you currently do? Maybe it’s just a simple phone call to your family member and organising a gathering?

4. Take action. Start Small

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Everyone has a big vision, but it will take months and maybe years to get to it. It all depends on how big it is and what consistent steps you are taking every day. Remember that discipline and a consistent routine will make the best out of you. Your new endeavour will become a habit and will feel less like a chore and doing it consistently will add up within months. You will realise that you are now a more productive and happier person than yesterday. Always remember, lifestyle is not a destination, it’s a journey.

5. Focus

Stay motivated, push forward, and be inspired. Don’t chase too many goals at once. Pick one and stick to it. Also if the task seems too big, break it down into small subtasks, that way it won’t look too hard to accomplish. Surround yourself with people who will support you. Introduce your second half to your new routine and perhaps embrace it together. Join an online group or find other ways to connect with people looking for the same support as you. Nowadays it is easier more than ever to connect with someone anywhere in the world with technology. This way you will never stop progressing, and will always be better than you were yesterday. Visualise it and live towards it.

b) Travel the world

It doesn’t have to be the trip around the world which you probably don’t have the funds to. A one day trip to the nearest town or hike with a backpack will already broaden your mind and will make you see more. There are so many health benefits of having an active lifestyle. It doesn’t have to be long hours in the gym. You don’t have to spend your time in the gym at all, there are plenty of alternatives that you can squeeze into your daily schedule. d) Always step outside your comfort zone

You and only you are responsible for making your life happy. No one will present or give it to you on a platter. Everyone is busy with their routine and they only think about themselves first. It is time for you to start thinking about what you want. Don’t expect things to happen on their own, they won’t. You are the builder of your dream and only you can build it. Choosing your ideal lifestyle is on you, so don’t ask others. Of course, there will be people who will open the door, perhaps show the way, but you are the one who will be walking it.
